Kayodie

My name is Odie. When I'm on a kayak, they call me Kayodie! I'm pretty cute aren't I? I've kayaked in lots of different places. First comes Florida. That's where I'm from.  We kayaked on a river called Fisheating Creek and saw lots of alligators.  I don't know what alligators are, but I didn't like how it felt when they started calling me 'Gator Bait.'  I don't think I want to go kayaking there again.

Then we kayaked on the Suwanee river in northern Florida.  We didn't see any alligators there.  I don't really like to swim very much, but I do seem to fall off the kayak once in a while.  I won't sink though because they have this life jacket on me.  Sometimes I fall off on purpose so I can switch kayaks.  Dad's (Jim) kayak has a nice flat space to stand.  My Mom's (Chris) kayak is narrower.  But, sometimes I like to be with mom!

I also kayaked on the Colorado river in Arizona.  I don't know what the difference is, but Mom and Dad seemed to think it was special to be on this big river.

The only time I got scared was when we were on a river in the Adirondacks of New York.  There was lots of splashy water and I got thrown overboard.  I wasn't sure if Mom would be able to get me, but she did.  I saw her paddle hard and then she grabbed the handle on the back of my life jacket and pulled me into the boat.

I think I like kayaking on the Bay at Long Beach Island the best.  It's calm there.  And we have our own beach.
